Week 1 First glance to nomadic lifestyleextra

Pick up at your hotel and visit Tour Mongolia office where you will have tour briefing and introduction of projects with local communities. Travel to a community in Terelj National Park for 80 km in northeast of Ulaanbaatar where you will have a first glance to the nomadic lifestyle. Here, you will everyday enjoy and experience local life and culture. During your stay you will be served Mongolian meals/dishes, as well as, you have chances to practice in the cooking of those and learn how to make Mongolian dishes. First evening you'll have an exciting "Nomadic Welcome Party". Stay with the nomad family and taste traditional dairy products like Aaruul-curdled milk dried in outside by the sun, Suutei tsai-salty milk tea, Boortsog-homemade butter biscuits fried in oil and so on. You will see and involve part of daily works of milking cows and processing of dairy products and blending Mongolian traditional vodka called "Shimiin arkhi". No doubt, you will be invited to try these products. Some days evening you will play famous traditional game "Shagai", after filled with few lessons on it. You will learn many games from the family members, and could play and compete with them. Here you will have plenty of chance for doing trekking around the area through beautiful mountain and valley and having rest at the bank of rivers as basking in the sun. Also you can enjoy a day of yak cart stroll through the valley. Stay overnights in Mongolian Ger along the community.


Week 2 & 3 Sharing with nomads of Gurvanbulag community
Travel by car for 350km to Gurvanbulag community of local nomads, a small community, initiated by few local families who live in the beautiful natural reserve of Khognokhaan Mountain. Natural landscapes of mountain, forest, steppe and Gobi are all located in this place. Here you will enjoy celebrating local festival and ceremony with nomad people. Once during your stay everybody will get up early in the morning and dismantle the Ger for preparing to move a new place. Afterwards you will learn to erect up a Mongolian Ger. The activity will prove us why nomad people prefer the Ger as the best accommodation for their live in the countryside. Also we will trek for 3 days to and from Khognokhaan Mountain and visit a local temple of Erdenekhamba, ancient ruin of Ovgon monastery. One of the most joyful parts of your stay is learning to play Mongolian national musical instrument of "Morin Khuur"- horse headed fiddle. A local musician will teach and assist you for learning to play and you can exercise in inspiring atmosphere of surrounding nature where Golden sand dunes, sacred mountain and wide open steppe are all combined. Stay overnights in Mongolian Ger along the community and in tent during the trekking.


Week 4 Experiencing the horse based unique culture in Arkhangai
Travel by car for 270km to our next destination in Arkhangai province. We will visit Khan-Undur community and live with nomads who belong to this community. Here you will have your own Mongolian horse in order to ride for 1 week. The horseman of the area will tell you all instruction and main character of your horse and teach how to ride and handle your Mongolian horse. You can easily learn how to halter, hobble and saddle the horse and then everyday you will handle it. Enjoy day riding through beautiful places and ride with nomads to look for herds of horses in the mountain are part of activities that you will experience. Also you will have a chance to watch and realize how Mongolian skillful cowboys catch horses by "uurga" - traditional wooden lasso and training an untamed horse that has never been ridden before. Since the area is rich by the horses there are many families milk the mares and ferment famous traditional healthy drink "Airag"-milk wine. You may participate of daily activities by holding the foals next to their mothers and churning airag etc. We will enjoy 4 days trail ride to and from a beautiful small lake Khukh and sacred mountain Khan-Undur. Stay overnights in Mongolian Ger along the community and in tent during the riding trek.


Last days in Ulaanbaatar
Travel back to Ulaanbaatar. Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and transfer to your hotel. End of the service. B

Included: All activities described in the itinerary, Ger stay in countryside, English speaking guide service, entrance fees to Protected Areas and sightseeing costs, transfer by Russian van in countryside. Meals of breakfast, lunch /picnic during the treks/ and dinner will be provided during the countryside stays.
Excluded: International transportation to and from Mongolia, travel insurance, stay hotel in Ulaanbaatar, mineral (bottled) water and alcoholic drinks, tips and gratuities, laundry and items of a personal nature.
